The title draws on the double meaning of : milk and the Milky Way. In Greek mythology, the galaxy was formed when Hera’s milk spilled across the heavens as she pulled Heracles away from her breast. An intimate, bodily act became a cosmic phenomenon, linking nourishment and creation to the vastness of the universe.
The photographs move between these scales. The body appears intimate yet elusive, partially concealed and difficult to locate, suspended between the recognizable and the unknown. It becomes a space where personal experience meets the unconscious and the mystery of creation.
Rooted in my own experience of motherhood, the work explores the complex relationship between creation, nourishment, and identity. What connects us to life can also transform our sense of self, blurring the boundaries between connection and confinement, giving and becoming. reflects on motherhood as an experience that is at once intimate and vast, generative and disorienting.
El título juega con el doble significado de láctea: la leche y la Vía Láctea. Según la mitología griega, la galaxia se formó cuando la leche de Hera se derramó por el cielo al apartar de su pecho a Heracles. Un acto íntimo y corporal se convirtió así en un fenómeno cósmico, vinculando la nutrición y la creación con la inmensidad del universo.
Las fotografías transitan entre estas dos escalas. El cuerpo aparece íntimo y, al mismo tiempo, esquivo, parcialmente oculto y difícil de situar, suspendido entre lo reconocible y lo desconocido. Se convierte en un espacio donde la experiencia personal se encuentra con el inconsciente y el misterio de la creación.
Desde mi propia experiencia de la maternidad, la obra explora la compleja relación entre creación, nutrición e identidad. Aquello que nos conecta con la vida también puede transformar nuestra percepción de nosotras mismas, desdibujando los límites entre conexión y confinamiento, entre dar y devenir. Láctea reflexiona sobre la maternidad como una experiencia simultáneamente íntima, inmensa y desconcertante
